This recipe uses a custard base which gives depth and improves the flavor, but it also increases the quantity of the ice cream to 6 cups, which means more ice cream for you and your family.
The ingredients for the custard cream:
1/3 cup sugar
4 teaspoons cornstarch
2 egg yolks
3/4 cups heavy cream
The ingredients for the ice cream base:
1 can sweet condensed milk
2 cups very cold heavy cream
2 tablespoons brandy or vodka
2-3 teaspoons vanilla extract
First you cook the custard and mix it with the sweet condensed milk.
Then you whip the heavy cream to stiff peaks
Then combine the two mixtures together.
Transfer to freezer safe container and freeze overnight.
Serve plain or with crumbled cookies, chocolate syrup or fruit coulis.
