Sweetener of choice, such as maple syrup (about 2-3 teaspoons or to taste)
9-10ice cubes
1cupmilk of choice
¼teaspoonvanilla extractoptional
Instructions
1st method (with a blender)
Put all the ingredients, besides the ice, to the bowl of your blender and blend for 20 seconds or until everything is combined and no lumps remain.Pour in a glass and fill with ice.
2nd method (without a blender)
Sift: Sift the matcha tea into a glass or cup.
Add cold water: Add the cold water to the matcha powder and whisk the mixture well using a bamboo whisk or an electric milk frother until the matcha is fully dissolved.Alternatively, if you don't have a frother or a whisk you will first add just a small quantity of water (about 1-2 teaspoons) and mix with a small spoon until you get a thick matcha paste. Mix the paste until all the lumps are dissolved and gradually add the rest of the water.
Sweeten (optional): Add the sweetener of your choice and stir until it's well incorporated. Taste and adjust the quantity if needed.
Add the ice and the milk: Add the ice cubes and the milk to a serving glass and pour the matcha mixture into the glass. Stir with a spoon to mix and enjoy!
Notes
1 ½ teaspoons of matcha powder per serving will give you a strong matcha flavor. For a lighter flavor, use just 1 teaspoon per serving. There's no need for vanilla extract if you use a flavored milk.If following the second method, you can also do everything in the serving glass:
Sift the matcha in the serving glass
Add the water and the sweetener and then froth with a frother
